Are You Acclimitized? SGB Miro Board, Youth Symposium, 2022.

Arabella Knegendorf is a landscape architecture student at TU Berlin who is enthusiastic about the interdisciplinary nature of SGB.

TU Berlin has been a member of the renowned Science Gallery International network since 2021. The Science Gallery Berlin will be a new platform on the Charlottenburg campus, working at the interface between science and art and targeting young people. Students are also invited to get involved when it comes to what concerns us in today's world and how do we communicate knowledge in a sustainable way. Here we have the chance to deal with current topics and issues, to face the challenges of our time and to learn from each other. But it's about even more than facts and science. It's also about communication, art and design, as we want to communicate content in exciting, creative ways. So how do we become shapers of our present and create visions? HOT AND BOTHERED has done that.

For four days, the Science Gallery Youth Symposium 2022 brought together young people from around the world. We discussed, debated, and talked about our ideas for the future world. This year, we focused on climate change. The program consisted of a series of online workshops, including data visualization, interactive performances, watching films together, quizzes and much more. As Science Gallery Berlin we co-designed the program and organized an interactive quiz where people could find out their own climate type. Young people from different countries reported on their experiences. From this we were able to create a climate mosaic that gives us an idea of how green we really are. But see for yourself here. We are curious to see how the mosaic will change over the years, and perhaps it will be the first work to hang in the exhibition rooms of the Science Gallery Berlin. Then, starting in 2026, in the new Wissenschaftspavillon on the campus in Charlottenburg.

The Science Gallery International network consists of several universities from Dublin, London, Melbourne, Bengaluru, Rotterdam, Atlanta and Berlin. It is dedicated to sharing knowledge with society by connecting science and art. At this interface, the aim is to create new experiential spaces for young people to experience through participatory events, exhibitions and educational programs.
